The EP103 Echoplex Delay is a compact and modern pedal that captures the warm, organic modulation and musical voice of the legendary Echoplex EP-3 tape echo unit. The original EP-3 units are known for their iconic guitar tones from the '70s onwards, but they can be expensive, temperamental, and large in size. The EP103 Echoplex Delay offers an affordable and reliable alternative without sacrificing the classic Echoplex sound.

The pedal features a simple control interface for easy operation. The Delay control sets the time between repeats, ranging from 65ms to 750ms. The Sustain control adjusts the number of repeats, while the Volume control sets the output level of the repeats. This allows you to dial in the desired amount of echo and adjust the intensity of the effect to your liking.

The EP103 really shines in Age mode, which lets you "age" the sound of your repeats. By default, the pedal delivers a bright and clear tape echo with subtle wow and flutter modulation. However, with a quick push of the Volume knob, you can darken the tone, increase tape saturation (distortion), and add more modulation and tape distress as you turn the knob clockwise. This feature allows you to achieve various vintage tape echo sounds and add character to your repeats.

The pedal's delay signal receives the same tonal conditioning as the EP101 Echoplex Preamp, ensuring that the delay effect sounds as authentic as possible. The dry path, on the other hand, remains all analog with Constant Headroom Technology™, providing ample headroom for your dry signal. The EP103 offers true relay or trails bypass options, and it can be set for 100% wet mode as well as stereo input and output modes.

For tap tempo functionality, you can connect an M199 MXR Tap Tempo Switch to control delay time, providing up to 4 seconds of delay time. The EP103 can be powered by the included Dunlop ECB003 9-volt adapter, or it can be used with the DC Brick™, Iso-Brick™, and Mini Iso-Brick™ power supplies. With the EP103 Echoplex Delay, you can achieve the legendary EP-3 tape echo tones in a compact and user-friendly pedal without the need for actual tape cartridges.
