For 63 years, this bold aesthetic has defined the SG’s unmistakable attitude, whether as a guitar or a bass. While the distinctive shape remained a staple in their guitar lineup, Gibson didn’t revisit a bass version for over two decades—until 2005, when they reintroduced the SG Bass with a reissue that captured the spirit of the original.

SG basses gained immense popularity in the 1960s, with models like the EB-0 and EB-3 becoming staples for iconic players such as Jack Bruce, Andy Fraser, and Jermaine Jackson of the Jackson Five. These basses were revered for their distinctive tone and design, solidifying their place in music history.

The SG reissue not only lives up to the legacy of its predecessors but arguably surpasses it. Retaining the classic looks, construction, and tonal character of the original EB models, it simplifies the controls by removing the often-problematic Varitone switch and ensuring consistent volume across settings. This SG is in near-new condition, having spent most of its life securely stored in its case. The protective plastic is still on the pickguard, and it shows minimal signs of use, making it a well-preserved example of fine craftsmanship, ready to deliver exceptional performance.
